Air Suspension for Emergency Service Vehicles

Emergency service vehicles place exceptional demands on their suspension systems — frequent loading and unloading, kneeling functions, high mileage and round-the-clock operation. On Air Suspension supply air suspension parts, replacement components and complete conversion kits for ambulances, rapid response units and specialist emergency vehicles. Common platforms include the Fiat Ducato, Renault Master, Mercedes Sprinter and VW Crafter — parts held in UK stock for fast turnaround.

If your vehicle isn't listed or you need technical advice on a specific application, call us on 01277 552030 — we work directly with fleet operators and conversion specialists.

We supply a direct replacement kit for the occasionally problematic Continental OE air suspension system fitted to X250 and X290 Ducato, Relay and Boxer ambulances — retaining the vehicle's kneeling function while replacing the original control system with proven, serviceable components.

The Renault Master is a common ambulance platform and a frequent source of air suspension enquiries — replacement air springs for the X62 and X70 Renault Masters fitted with Intelliride and Dunlop OE respectively are held in UK stock, with full assembly and bellows-only options available from On Air Suspension.

FAQs — Emergency Service Vehicle Air Suspension

Our ambulance's air suspension has failed — how quickly can you supply parts?
Replacement air springs for the common ambulance platforms — Fiat Ducato X250/X290, Renault Master X62 and X70, Mercedes Sprinter and VW Crafter — are held in UK stock. Usual despatch is within 1–2 business days. Workshop diagnostics and fitting are available by appointment at Ongar, Essex.

Does the Ducato OE conversion kit retain the kneeling function?
Yes. The On Air Active system retains rear lowering for level patient access, with ignition-off lowering. The kit replaces the Continental compressor, valve manifold, ECU and wiring while retaining the existing air tank and air springs.

Can our own fleet workshop fit the parts?
Replacement air springs are a straightforward fit for a fleet workshop, and detailed fitting instructions are provided. The Ducato OE conversion kit is more involved and requires the correct configuration for the specific vehicle — contact us before ordering and we'll confirm what's involved.

Do you work with emergency vehicle conversion specialists?
Yes — kits and components can be specified and fitted at the point of build rather than retrofitted after the vehicle enters service. Contact us to discuss build-stage supply.

Can you diagnose faults on OE emergency vehicle air suspension systems?
Yes. We diagnose and repair factory-fitted OE systems as well as aftermarket kits at our Ongar, Essex workshop — common faults include leaking air springs, compressor failure, valve and control faults, and loss of the kneeling function.

Do you supply air suspension for fire & rescue and police vehicles?
Yes. Fire & rescue and police fleets run many of the same commercial platforms we cover — Ducato, Master, Sprinter, Crafter, Transit and Iveco Daily — for which we supply semi-air kits, replacement air springs and compressors. Contact us to discuss a specific vehicle or application.

Do you offer air suspension for the Ineos Grenadier?
Yes. On Air Suspension designs and builds full air suspension conversions for the Ineos Grenadier — available as rear-only or full 4-corner systems. Following the Grenadier's approval for UK blue light service, fleet operators evaluating the platform can contact us to discuss air suspension at the specification stage.
