The Toyota Hilux is built around an unladen ride, not a loaded one. Add payload and the rear squats — changing ride height, altering handling, throwing off headlight aim and loading the rear tyres unevenly. A rear semi-air suspension kit addresses that by supporting the rear axle under load.
 
Supplied by On Air Suspension, this kit works alongside the Hilux's existing leaf suspension rather than replacing it. The original bump stops are removed and the air springs fitted in their place — no drilling, using existing chassis mounting points. The rear stays supported and controlled whether the bed is empty or fully loaded.

This page covers the seventh-generation Hilux (2006–2015) and the eighth-generation Hilux (2016–2025). Select your model year at the top of the page — the kit ships with the mounting bracket set matched to your vehicle. Every other component is common across both.
 
What it does

Pickups carry variable loads almost entirely over the rear axle, so the rear suspension takes the full brunt. This kit supports the rear under that load without altering the vehicle's legal kerb weight or GVW.
 
Load support — the air springs carry rear load, holding the vehicle closer to its designed ride height whether empty or loaded.
Roll stiffness — the added air spring rate increases roll stiffness at the rear axle: more stability in crosswinds and when passing high-sided vehicles.
Rear height on demand — a small amount of rear lift can be added by inflation, useful for ramp angles, ferry embarkation and steep approaches.
Under tow — supporting the rear against nose weight keeps the vehicle nearer its designed attitude when hitched, reducing rear squat and pitching.
 
Inflation & controls

Supplied for manual inflation as standard — air is introduced through the included inflation panel using a standard tyre inflator or workshop compressor. No on-vehicle compressor is needed for basic operation.
 
Two compressor kits are available as optional additions:
 
PCP1014Z — compressor and single gauge kit. Both air springs are linked and inflate together.
PCP1016Z — compressor and dual gauge kit. Independent left/right inflation for off-centre loads.
 
For automatic levelling, the kit is compatible with On Air Active — Advanced Air Suspension Control System. On Air Active uses a single height sensor to monitor and adjust rear ride height continuously, holding a set level at any legal payload, with a lowering function for improved access.
