Dunlop 170-2 Replacement Air Spring — SABO Double Convoluted (ASL2031A)
A SABO replacement for the Dunlop 170-2 double convoluted air spring, most commonly identified by the 170/2 or 170-2 number moulded into the rubber bellow. This spring has featured across a wide range of semi-air and air assist suspension applications — if you can see 170/2 on your existing bellow, this is the replacement.
Commonly found on motorhome and campervan conversions based on the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay (X230, X244, X250/X290 platforms). Associated with air assist kits fitted to vehicles by manufacturers including Hymer, Swift, Autotrail and Bailey, among others. Also used across a broad range of light commercial semi-air suspension applications.

Identifying your spring: The 170/2 or 170-2 marking is moulded directly into the rubber bellow. This part is also commonly referred to as a 7-inch double convoluted bag when searching in imperial measurements.
Signs of wear on convoluted springs: Unlike sleeve-type springs which typically fail at the fold, double convoluted springs most commonly show wear as cracking or deep perishing in the central valley between the two convolutions, polishing or rub marks on the rubber sidewall where it may contact a chassis member, or corrosion on the metal retaining plates which can cause the rubber-to-plate seal to fail even when the rubber itself appears intact.
Supplied as a complete assembly. The rubber bellow is crimped to a metal retaining plate — the top plate and piston are bolted to this retaining plate and can be removed for fitment. The air connector is push-in type.
